Home warranties provide peace of mind when an appliance or system breaks down. Instead of facing a costly bill, homeowners pay the service fee and a monthly premium to a contract provider.
It’s a low-cost, high-reward scenario — as long as you find the right company. There are many home warranty providers across the country, but they’re not all equal in terms of offerings and quality of service. We’ve evaluated the best home warranty companies on metrics like plan options, coverage, cost, customer ratings and other factors to provide an unbiased recommendation.
Below, we’ll provide a 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty review. We’ll also explain an alternative option that might be a better fit for most homeowners. In general, we think it’s a smart approach to get quotes from several providers and compare.

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty Reviews
2-10 Home Buyers Warranty is accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and has an A rating. However, out of almost 400 customer reviews, the company only has one star.
Outside of the BBB, ratings are all over the board. That tells us customer experience may vary greatly for this company.
Here are a few sample 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty reviews we found on the BBB:
“I submitted a claim for work I had completed prior to discussions with 2-10. (I am a new home owner and forgot I received the warranty). I submitted the claim via email (the website is not user friendly), but had a real person call me back. It took 7 days for a return call. Since I had supreme service with the septic supplement, they agreed to pay half the bill (awaiting payment). If I had gone through the correct process, he said they would have paid the complete bill. I was happy with the outcome, especially after reading some of the horrible experiences.”
– Maygan E., three stars, May 2017
“Terrible … When an issue with my refrigerator arose (ice maker not functioning), the first company they sent out replaced the ice maker and claimed the issue was fixed, but the new ice maker never made ice. Clearly a mis-diagnosis. The second company 2-10 contracted never contacted me at all. When the problem finally led to a leak on a Friday, I was told I would have to wait for someone to contact me on Monday. I couldn’t let a leak sit for an entire weekend, so I was forced to hire someone on my own to fix the problem. Subsequently, no one ever contacted me from the second company. When I tried to get 2-10 to reimburse me for having to hire someone myself, I was told the issue wasn’t covered. It was covered when they sent the first company out, but suddenly it wasn’t covered when I had to handle the problem myself. ”

Our Assessment of 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty
2-10 Home Buyers Warranty has standard warranty plans and coverage, and the prices are average. The Appliance coverage has a few perks: The company will try to match the color of your replacement appliance, you can get cash to replace the item instead of repair it, and you can get substantial discounts on certain appliance brands.
If you decide to go with 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, we think the Everything Together plan is the best deal. HVAC and water heaters are expensive to repair and worth covering, but leaving out major appliances families use every day seems risky. The $45 cost is a good price for this type of combo plan.
Although 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty has decades of experience in the business and a high claims record, we aren’t impressed with the customer reviews and ratings. There seems to be an issue with having quality technicians, which can lead to a lot of extra trouble and stress when repairs are needed.
We believe a better alternative would be American Home Shield, which also has several decades of industry experience and a Combo Plan™ that is comparable to 2-10’s Everything Together option.
Preferred Provider: American Home Shield
As the industry founder, American Home Shield is a well-known provider. The company was founded in 1971 and services all states except for Alaska.
American Home Shield is accredited by the BBB and holds a B rating. We named it “Best Overall” in our best home warranty comparison because of its extensive breadth of coverage. Homeowners can choose between four plans to find offerings that fit their needs and budget — especially with the flexible Build Your Own Plan™. This option allows homeowners to choose a total of 10 systems and appliances to protect.
American Home Shield is known for its fast, efficient claims process — both in terms of ease of online and over-the-phone filing and the fact that the company responds to customer service requests within 24 hours 98% of the time.
